After an early morning breakfast and coach ride to the airport, our crew made the trip to the last destination of the term: Stockholm, Sweden! 🇸🇪 Notwithstanding a short night of sleep, everyone had a pleasant flight and was excited to experience a new country. Upon arrival, we swung by baggage claim before meeting our wonderful tour guide! A native of Sweden, she was knowledgeable and friendly in helping us navigate the metro train and the short walk to our hotel. Chatting with her, I was impressed to learn that she speaks not 2, but 3 languages fluently!
By the time everyone had settled into their rooms, it was past 3, and having skipped lunch, we wanted to have a quick meal before our evening activity. Therefore, we dined at the train station food court before braving the cold and wind on a walking tour of the city. I enjoyed a “Swedish Taco,” though I could not tell what it contained, since the menu, like the taco, was Swedish. Full and refreshed, we set out on the tour, which was not in the least diminished by the darkness which comes early at this latitude! By the glow of abundant lamps and streetlights, we saw charming, colorful buildings, soaring spires of churches, and intriguing statues and monuments. All of the sights were complemented by our guide sharing the history of the city and famous buildings. After our brief introduction to the city, we are looking forward to the rest of our time in Sweden. Skål!
